NATURALLY EBBING TIDES

Let's start this blog with a riddle:

What is that natural pause in a Woman's life?

Answering this question is a reality check of how aware you are of yourself  & in case you are a male then about the women in your life.

If you are still left wondering then the answer is ‘Menopause’ - The name itself suggest that it’s a Pause in Menstural cycle.

Everyone is aware of the time in school when the concept of menstrual cycle was introduced to them. Through these videos every boy and girl is educated on the changes that happen during this time in the women’s body. So everyone is well informed about ‘Menarche’, but why not about ‘Menopause’ ?

Just like the sun rises, eventually there comes a time where it sets. If ‘Menarche’ is the starting point of the menstrual cycle then a ‘Menopause’ is when it gradually comes to a stop.

Menopause is not sudden but is marked with a period of signs that can vary woman to woman. When there is absence of periods for  more than 12 months it is considered that menopause has occured. This doesn’t mean that it's something only women must face and go through alone. This literal and figurative upheaval in her life affects people around her & needs support from other family members.

Just as a Mother always has a kind word to say to us on our worst days similarly she needs the same.

As it's true in any given situation awareness plays a major role in helping to cope with it better. Not surprisingly what exactly is menopause is not known to many women. Recent studies suggest that women are not aware of the term or the signs to look out for. Unlike how knowledge of menstrual cycle is circulated through schools from young age this is not the same for a subject like “Menopause”. So when they start going through the transition period they not only don’t seek professional help but also prefer to remain quiet.

To outline Menopause:

Menopause tends to set in around the age of 40 or 45 which will vary person to person.

General signs and symptoms:

Physical symptoms -

  • There is decline in hormones that are responsible for ovulation as well as other reproductive functions.
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Hot flushes or flashes & Night sweats
  • Palpitations (irregular heart beats) & Headaches
  • Thinning hair and Dry Skin
  • Weight gain and slowed metabolism
  • Osteoporosis (bones become weak and brittle)

Emotional Symptoms

  • Mood changes
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Depression
  • Lack of energy
  • Difficulty concentrating, and dizzy spells.

Through Ayurveda this absolutely normal transition in a woman's life can become manageable and smooth. Following an appropriate diet and lifestyle definitely makes a difference in relieving these symptoms. Depending on the predominance of doshas during this period an appropriate diet may be followed.

Welcome – UTTARAYAN With Ancient Energy Bar – Tilgul Laddus

In Ayurveda, as there is a daily regimen or routine recommended, there is also a seasonal regimen. The reason is as simple as it gets-

As our external environment changes our body’s internal environment also gets affected. ‘Ritucharya’ (seasonal regimens) mentioned in Ayurveda was devised depending on the movements of the Sun. They are nothing but adaptation techniques so our body can maintain homeostasis at all times. This time period of ‘Makar Sankranti’ is the celebration of ‘Uttarayan’ - Uttara ( North) and Ayana (Movement) of the Sun. It provides us with best quality sunlight to restore the bodies Vit D reserves that the body can utilize up to a year. The food prepared and indulged in during this time also reflects this thought.

When we talk about the ‘Faral’ of Diwali season or the ‘Tilgul ladoos’ of Makar sankranti we are enriching our bodies to have good stores of energy and immunity for the year ahead.

Let us understand this using the perfect example of Makar Sankranti. This day forward we often find large quantities of freshly prepared Tilgul ladoos in our homes. As our external environment changes our body’s internal environment also gets affected. ‘Ritucharya’ (seasonal regimens) mentioned in Ayurveda was devised depending on the movements of the Sun.

Thus, it acts as an appetite enhancer and digestive. It helps to lower bad cholesterol and inflammation. The Ayush Ministry also recommends using sesame oil for nasal instillation (Nasya) and oil pulling (Gandusha) as immunity promoting measures.

So just, imagine what this combo, together, does to your body.

  • Packed with nutrients, tilgul ladoos provide support to our musculoskeletal system and keep joint troubles away as the cold environment affects joints and muscles also.
  • This is the coldest period of the winter season so they help in generating heat in our bodies.
  • Til and Gud make the perfect combination like an energy bar, which not only satisfies the Digestive fire but also balances the doshas and enhances our immunity.
  • It is also beneficial in keeping the skin and hair nice and soft during this cold and dry season.
  • Not only Tilgul but also Chikki, Gulachi poli, etc, serve the same purpose.

Some of the Best things come in small packages.’ Tilgul ladoos’ are perfect examples.

So, it's good to remember in the back of our minds, this Makar Sankranti we are not exchanging just sweets but - health and positivity for the rest of the year ahead.

The Snooze Factor

14th November may be celebrated as Children’s Day in India, but Globally it has a greater significance as being World Diabetes Day. The blue circle in the logo adopted by the UN represents global diabetes awareness. ‘It signifies the importance of unity of the community globally about diabetes in response to the diabetes epidemic’- IDF (International Diabetes Federation).

We at Sandu Pharmaceuticals want to do our bit in raising awareness on this subject.

We Indians love a hearty meal, which usually leads to your full tummies & a longing for a short nap. Did you know, these frequent short naps can really shorten the quality of life you may have? You may be wondering why we are ruining the joy of your favorite day-time activity. How in the world does it relate to our agenda of raising awareness? Well!!! We have your best interest at heart.

Diabetes can be correlated with Ayurvedic diseases like Prameha, Medoroga (metabolic disorders) & Santarpaniya  Vyadhi (disorders due to overnutrition). Prameha is one of the conditions that are seen as a result of Medoroga & Santarpaniya Vyadhi, followed by disorders such as ati-sthoulyata, cardiovascular disorders, memory and intellect defects, lethargy etc. So, when taking a look at the causes for Prameha (Diabetes) we find that Divaswap or daytime napping is listed as one of them. Thus, the common denominator between all three that we can identify is Divaswap.

Ayurveda says that in prameha, unhealthy lifestyle leads to vitiation of all the dosha & dhatus which have jala mahabhuta predominance. So, there is malfunction of kapha dosha predominantly along with pitta & vata dosha. Also we find there is malfunctioning of meda dhatu (mainly) along with other 9 body tissues. The result of this is excess urination, thirst, hunger, profuse sweating etc which are the most common symptoms in diabetic patients. Divaswap vitiates all three doshas in our body. This along with other causative factors leads to various disorders.at modern research says about the effects of frequent daytime napping is represented in the schematic.

Frequent day-time napping causes:

·      Increase in BMI

·      Waist circumference (central adiposity)

·      Increased fasting insulin

·      Increased cholesterol & cholesterol related lipoproteins

·      Fatigue & bodily pain

·      Disturbed sleep efficiency at night.

The stated factors are usually related to increased risk of cardiovascular & metabolic diseases. Just as we give a lot of thought when it comes to investments, similarly we must spare the same for our lifestyle. As what we do daily is ultimately an investment to our health for now & future. Haven’t we voluntarily chosen this habit of frequent day-time napping as part of our lifestyle? We know old habits die hard but correcting this is within our capability. So take this one small step towards your health & limit your daytime napping.

We ask you this, if prevention is better than cure, why wait?

Snooze your habit of snoozing for an improved healthy lifestyle, before it’s too late.

As the theme of World Diabetes Day for the year 2021-2023 is ‘Access to Diabetes Care’,

Sandu offers:

Fix The Sperm Count With Vimfix

FIX THE SPERM COUNT WITH VIMFIX

It is unfortunate but true that modern lifestyle is responsible for fall in sperm count in men. Shockingly, there are reports that even COVID-19 may induce the inflammation of testis resulting in disturbed sperm formation, decrease sperm quality in moderately infected patients, and further adversely affect male reproduction.

The average sperm count in a healthy male is between 40 to 300 million per milliliter. Counts below 10 million are considered poor. Low sperm count indicates a less chance of conceiving.

About 15% of couples experience conception problems, and this percentage is growing. According to a research study, around 1 out of 5 males in India has fertility problem.

All men can achieve a higher sperm count and improve their fertility potential. Following certain  simple ways improve sperm count naturally.

1.      AVOID HOT WATER BATH, TIGHT UNDERWEAR AND BOXERS
There is a reason for testicles hanging outside, it is for keeping the temperature of the testicles 1 to 2 °C lesser than the body’s temperature. At this lower temperature, sperm formation is optimum. As exposure to heat reduces sperm production, bathing in hot water or sitting for long in hot bath tub may increase the  testicles temperature resulting in suppression of sperm production. For the same reason, do not keep cell phone in your pocket, also avoid placing the laptop computer on your lap. In Ayurveda, Semen or Shukra is considered as “cool” सौम्यं शुक्रम्!!

2.      STAY AWAY FROM TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL
Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol should be avoided as they damage the sperm. Fortunately, the damage done from smoking and alcohol can easily be reversed after quitting.

3.      PROPER NUTRITION
It is very important to maintain your ideal weight. Eat a healthy diet which is high in protein and low in fats. Getting plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes can help boost fertility.

4.      PHYSICAL EXERCIE

Exercise and Yoga further help to maintain the normal body weight and also relieves stress and anxiety, thereby boosting the fertility.

6.      HAVE NATURAL HERBS TO INCREASE THE SPERM COUNT
Various research studies have proven the efficacy of herbal medicines in increasing sperm count and fertility.
The following herbs have been exclusively shown to increase the sperm count and motility
        Kapikachhu

        Talimkhana
         Shwet Musli
         Ashwagandha
         Vidarikanda
         Gokshur
         Shatavari
         Jaiphal

The above herbs are present in a novel herbomineral spermatogenic formulation, known as VIMFIX.

The herbs present in VIMFIX Tablets do have Rasayan and Vajeekaran properties, they enhance the level of testosterone which plays an important role in Spermatogenesis (process of sperm production). VIMFIX Tablets improve sperm count, motility and morphology and also increase semen density. Further it also minimizes the damage to the sperm cells.

VIMFIX, being testosterone enhancer, antioxidant and adaptogenic, improves sperm production and therefore, useful in male functional infertility.
